This roadmap outlines the major milestones from devnet to full mainnet and beyond. It is designed to be transparent, achievable, and community-driven.

🔹 Phase 1 — Devnet Launch (Q3 2025)

• Release of the Bitcoin2 L1 PoW blockDAG protocol.
• ~1 second block times, 21M BTC2 hard cap.
• Initial test wallets, block explorer, and mining guides.
• Treasury split enabled (10% block rewards → community DAO fund).

🔹 Phase 2 — L2 Online (Q4 2025)

• EVM-compatible Layer 2 environment for smart contracts and governance.
• Deployment of Wrapped BTC2 (WBTC2) for apps and liquidity.
• First test contracts (DAO voting, multisig, treasury management).

🔹 Phase 3 — Governance & Treasury (Q1 2026)

• Launch of the Treasury DAO on L2.
• Community proposals, voting, and on-chain execution.
• Grants for devs, audits, tools, and community outreach.

🔹 Phase 4 — Bridge v1 (Q2 2026)

• Mint/burn bridge between L1 ↔ L2.
• Secure WBTC2 flow for DeFi, governance, and liquidity.
• Basic cross-chain integrations begin.

🔹 Phase 5 — Privacy Pilot (Q3 2026)

• Stealth addresses implemented on testnet.
• zk-send prototype for private transfers.
• Community feedback and audits.

🔹 Phase 6 — Rollup Migration (Q4 2026)

• Upgrade from devnet EVM to a production rollup (zk/OP) anchored to Bitcoin2 L1.
• Scaling apps, DAOs, and DeFi securely on top of Bitcoin2.
• Solidify Bitcoin2 as a long-term L1 + L2 dual-layer ecosystem.
